TRENTON PUBLIC EDUCATION FOUNDATION HOLDS SUCCESSFUL ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT

Guests get first-hand information from teachers and students

Nearly 100 community members, joined by the Trenton High School Band and many teachers and students from Trenton Public Schools, turned out for the Trenton Public Education Foundation's annual fund-raising event at the Trenton Marriott recently. Participants got a first-hand look at student achievements made possible by the TPEF, and learned how to contribute to students' successes by supporting the organization.

Those on hand learned about several TPEF-funded projects that are helping students advance in reading and writing, as well as develop skills in computers with the use of industry standard software for photo media.  Both elementary and high school students shared information with attendees about what they have been learning and their career interests.  Funded projects included: “Letters to my child / a letter to my parents,” led by Joyce Kilmer Elementary School teacher Leslie Sander; “From Snapshots to the Workplace,” led by Trenton Central High School teacher Beth Paugh; and the Trenton Youth Communications Partnership, which offers high school students an opportunity to learn about the field of communications.

The information-filled evening featured a Multi-Media Presentation honoring the many people involved with TPEF.  Many of the event sponsors were present to learn how their support enables the city's children to further their education.  Capital Health Systems, Verizon, PSE&G, St. Francis Medical Center, PNC Bank, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Thomas Edison State College sponsored this event.

TPEF encourages the public to become “Keys” in Opening Doors of Opportunity and give their time, talent and resources in support of educational opportunities for students in Trenton Public Schools.
