High School students begin
communications mentoring program

Trenton, NJ – The Trenton Public Education Foundation (TPEF), along with local media outlets and area corporations kicked-off the fourth year of the Trenton Youth Communications Partnership last Friday, February 15th with a celebration event at Trenton Central High School.

“Some of the Trenton Central High School students chosen to take part in the program met some of the mentors and heard details about their internships”, said Pamela Pruitt, TPEF board president.  This year program will run through May 31st, with final projects presented at a showcase on June 3rd.  A new competitive component was added this year in which the students will compete for prizes such as: a new laptop computer and printer, iPod Touch, two paid summer internships at Thomas Edison State College and lunch with Mayor Douglas Palmer.

The Trenton Youth Communications Partnership is a program that pairs communications professionals with high school students interested in pursuing careers in media and communications.  “With the guidance of their mentors, these students will get a first-hand look at what it takes to succeed in these fields,” said Pruitt.
